There are so many ways to ask the question, but what does it mean to “be”?
There are historical patterns to “be”. There is the 7 Generational Pattern that can lend a better understanding to the question. There is no specific timeframe for each Generation of the pattern; only that each Generation occurs in order.
Different people within a group can be at different Generations within the pattern at the same time. While the desire is for everyone within a group to always be first Generation, that is not a reality, nor will it ever be a reality without a special upheaval, typically from either external or internal forces beyond the group's control.
How each Generation reacts to other Generations says more about the group than about the individuals within the group. Understanding that the pattern is cyclical provides hope for the group's future.
Elders and the wise understand that the group's continued existence depends on each Generation of the pattern working itself into the next. While the desire is for everyone in the group to be first Generation within the pattern, Elders and the wise seek to teach and train everyone in each Generation with the knowledge that the continued existence of the group depends of the continuation of teaching and training, even when it is not wanted.
Generational Patterns of “Be”ing
The first Generation in the pattern completely accepts and integrates being into their total life. In Terms of temperature, this is the “hottest” or most committed to the purpose and cause.
The second Generation in the pattern accepts and mostly integrates being into their lives. In Terms of temperature, this is “warm” or mostly committed to the purpose and cause.
The third Generation in the pattern follows the roles and rules of being. In Terms of temperature, this is “lukewarm” or somewhat committed to the purpose and cause.
The fourth Generation in the pattern participates on holidays and special events. In Terms of temperature, this is the “cool” or seldom committed to the purpose and cause.
The fifth Generation in the pattern integrates into other societies and mores. In Terms of temperature, this is “cold” or least committed to the purpose and cause.
The sixth Generation in the pattern becomes nostalgic for the old ways of life. In Terms of temperature, this is the “warming” or somewhat committed to the purpose and cause.
The seventh Generation in the pattern seeks to return to the complete acceptance and integration into their total life. In Terms of temperature, this is “warm” or seeking committed to the purpose and cause.
Then the pattern repeats itself.
