Stupidity is one thing.  Telling BOLD FACED LIES is another.  

Historically, the Chickamauga and the Cherokee are NOT ethnically, culturally, religiously, archaeologically, or anthropologically the same people and are definitely not a band of the Cherokee.

Mr. John Stoutenburgh Jr.’s Dictionary of the American Indian: An A-Z Guide to Indian History, Legend, and Lore is ill-informed or intentionally deceiving his readers with LIES about the Chickamauga.

In 1794, the Chickamauga forces suffered a major defeat, but the hostilities never ceased.  The settlers, who were illegal immigrant squatters, were still taking lands of the Chickamauga that were promised in the treaty.  The Chickamauga continued to kill the settlers in accordance with the 1785 treaty (7 Stat 18).  The Chickamauga continued to hunt down and kill as many signers of the Henderson Treaty as they could find, which extended well past 1805.

The War Department Records, the Indian Agency records, and the Annals of Congress are replete with documentation that hostilities have never ceased for the Chickamauga.

The genocidal practices of the United States government and her lapdog Indian allies, including the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma Inc., against the Chickamauga are still being pursued today, so the hostilities against the Chickamauga have not ceased.

Not only have the hostilities not ceased, but The Chickamauga Nation has remained in a Red Government since the late 1760s because the genocidal hostilities of the United States and her lapdog allies are still targeting the people of The Chickamauga Nation.

So, Mr. Stoutenburgh, your dictionary needs to be revised to indicate that the hostilities have never ceased to exist between the United States and The Chickamauga Nation.
