The Cherokees promised at this meeting to give up captives in their possession--and to a return of the horses stolen by their people...The Spanish liberality in supplying [the Indians] with ammunition is supposed to be the cause of the present disorders-- together with their intrigues hopes his conjectures may not prove true respecting the coalition between them and Bowles...The Creeks are at the bottom of the evil...The substance of it is to show the designs of the Spaniards to stimulate the 4 Southern Indian Nations to break with the united States and make war against them.
