The Chickamauga Nation has had the blessing of being one of the original Tribes to be SERVICED by this law. We are also the recipients of the purpose of the law which specifically states the United States MUST, "providing against the further decline and final extinction of the Indian tribes, adjoining the frontier settlements of the United States, and for introducing among them the habits and arts of civilization." Our servicing under this LAW originates at two of our schools, Dwight Mission and the Chickamauga Mission which was renamed Brainerd Mission.

This law specifically states that The Chickamauga Nation must have provisions provided (serviced) by the United States to prevent our "further decline" and provide against our "Final Extinction." The LAW also requires for the United States to provide to "instruct them in the mode of agriculture suited to their situation and for teaching their children in reading, writing, and arithmetic". This means The Chickamauga Nation has been on the List of Federally Recognized Tribes and have received services because of our status as Indians since 1819 and that we cannot ever be Terminated. What a BLESSING bestowed upon us by CONGRESS and the PRESIDENT.

Even so, today we are still waiting for the Congress, President, and the Secretary of the Interior to follow this LAW and place us on the Ex Post Facto 1994 Federally Recognized Tribes List and provide us with services due to us. We have not received the Federally mandated instruction in modes of agriculture suited to our situation nor teaching our Children in reading, writing, and arithmetic for almost 200 years.
