12 Documented Facts About the Chickamauga From the National Registry

The Chickamauga Nation

1.  The language of the 1730 Whitehall Treaty with England gave the Chickamauga the right to kill any colonist who migrated and squatted on the lands West of the Ridge of the Appalachians.

2.  The 1763 Kings Proclamation forbid colonists from the westward transversing of the ridge of the Appalachians and gave the Chickamauga the right to kill any colonist who migrated and squatted on their lands.

3.  The United States declared War on the Chickamauga in late June and early July of 1776.

4.  The United States committed genocidal war crimes against the Chickamauga beginning in 1776.

5.  The United States in 1785 signed the Treaty of Hopewell with Chickamauga co-signers providing Federal Recognition.  The Treaty also provided for lands held in Trust, Annuities, and Recognition of Chickamauga government.

6.  The President of the United States, George Washington, in 1792 Federally Recognized the Chickamauga during his 4th Annual Address to Congress.

7.  The Congress of the United States in 1792 Federally Recognized the Chickamauga during debates of war and peace with the Chickamauga.

8.  Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe along with the Secretaries of War made land trade agreements with the Chickamauga beginning in 1809.

9.  The President and Congress of the United States in 1817 signed the Treaty with Chickamauga co-signers.  The Treaty provided for lands held in Trust, Annuities, and Recognition of the Chickamauga government.

10. The President and Congress of the United States in 1819 signed the Treaty with Chickamauga co-signers. The Treaty provided for lands held in Trust, Annuities, and Recognition of the Chickamauga government.

11. The Chickamauga co-signed more than 16 Treaties with the United States.

12. Thousands of Chickamauga participated in the Voluntary Removal in 1838 from the Southeast to Indian Territory.
